Why I took a break from IG…
Don’t worry, I’m already back on it.
(Also, hi, peeps!)
While I’m not too keen on the turn IG and Threads are taking (and I don’t use Facebook enough to care much), I have made amazing contacts on there and I cannot imagine just kind of…dumping them just yet; however, depending on the kind of hell that breaks loose, I might still leave. But as it seems, not all the other platforms are taking off as people hoped.
BlueSky is a lot of people just screenshooting X and posting it and complaining about it on there, Cara for artists doesn’t move much, and well…other places are just…I don’t know much about them to care.
I used to be on Tumblr and super enjoyed my time there, so I am thinking about going back and posting my art there! Hoping it won’t be too much noise, and I am hoping that I will make more fans on there as people on Tumblr really enjoy what they follow.
I watch the news headlines on YouTube and that is enough for me, and I also do believe seeing negativity everywhere can be sensory overload, so I keep it to YouTube.
I have been working to get my YouTube more constsient, and hopefully will be able to do proper videos with a proper set-up in no time. I understand it’s a bit dinky-looking at the moment, and I don’t want it to be janky like my last video when the sun was basically down by the end of my video (lmao), but please understand I am making a huge shift in how I’m going to be online. I am also going to prioritize my site and my blog more - there is nothing better than having your own space online vs what social media is becoming - a borrowed space. If the tenant doesn’t like you for whatever readon (even existing), it’s easy to get kicked out…
I am also looking to focus on doing more footwork (old school ways) than usual. I find it connects the people and communities, which is what I want out of my art anyway.
If I do get more followers on my socials and make a huge impact there, it would be an excellent help, but I think rethinking my options is a great way to continue on this online battle of popularity. (It doesn’t help that I hate making those short videos for all these platforms.)
I think I just want a safe sanctuary for those of us who practice love and light rather than the power and greed that is taking over this world…but we cannot help the natural progression of balance. We do our best, and sometimes we lose the battle. But it does not mean giving up. Let us take care of each other and our communities that we hold dear and close to our hearts. This is where it will matter the most.
Sending so much love and healing out there to those who need it. We will be okay.
